19、“ridiculosity ”

英国人吐槽：Ridiculosity是什么词儿啊？我喜欢美式英语，不过我怀疑甚至一些美国人也是虚情假意地在用它们，这份声明简直是荒谬(ridiculosity)。

英式表达：该是“ridiculous”！

eg: That statement was the height of ridiculousness/that statement was ridiculous!

20、“A half hour”

英国人吐槽：“a half hour(半小时)”，真让人抓狂！

英式表达：该是“half an hour”！

eg: He’ll be here in half an hour is better than he’ll be here in a half hour。

21、“heads up”

英国人吐槽：在商业会议上说：Lets do a “heads up(提醒)” on this issue。我至今还不知道是什么意思。

英式表达：这个意思是提前告诉个人某消息，为了让他们更好做准备。比较正式的说法是I’ll let you know beforehand/ I’ll inform you in advance。

22、“Train station”

英国人吐槽：Train station(火车站)，每次听到它，我就很恼火。谁开始用这个词的？他们没有被罚吗？

英式表达：railway station比较地道，但是我个人觉得train station 这个说法已经被流行化了，甭太较真了！

23、 “alphabetize it”

英国人吐槽：把一张表按照字母顺序排列就是去“alphabetize it”——非常不爽！

英式表达：英国人都说： I’ll put this list in alphabetical order。

24、“my bad”

英国人吐槽：那些在犯错后说“my bad(我的错)”的人，我真不知道事情怎么可以变得如此让人恼火、将惰性体现得淋漓尽致的！

英式表达：文质彬彬的人都该说： I’m sorry that was my fault/it was my fault/my mistake。

eg：I thought this was the place but I got totally mixed up. My mistake。

25、 “Normalcy”

英国人吐槽：用“normalcy(正常状态)”真的会激怒我，真想打说的人一个耳光哈！实在太错了这个词儿啊！

英式表达：normality

26、“burglarize”

英国人吐槽：作为一名生活在新奥尔良的侨民，我有很长一串清单，但是“burglarize(破门盗窃)”是我目前最不喜欢的词。

英式表达：英国用burgle!

eg：The burglar burgled the house – he didn’t BURGLARIZE it。

27、 “Oftentimes”

英国人吐槽：“Oftentimes(经常)”会让我恼怒得直哆嗦。

英式表达：有种种比这个词儿好听的生词，比如：often、frequently、usually、regularly、a lot of the time等。

28、 “Eaterie”

英国人吐槽：Eaterie(餐馆)。经常听到，天呐！!

英式表达：RESTAURANT!!!

29、“bi-weekly”

英国人吐槽：美国人需要用bi-weekly(每两周一次)，fortnightly明明足够好用了。

英式表达：fortnightly
