(来源:英语学习门户网站EnglishCN.com) Neil:	Today we’re going to look at words and phrases that have recently become part of the English language. Neil:	It’s very important to stay up-to-date with English as new words and expressions enter the language all the time. Neil:	Today’s expression is ‘reality TV’. Helen: Reality TV. Neil:	Well, reality TV is a type of TV programme. It means that real-life people, not actors, are followed and filmed in a real situation, or game. Neil:	Yes. In the UK, there is a programme called Big Brother. Real people live in a house and they are filmed 24 hours a day. Neil: Yes. Maybe you saw ‘Wise Man Takes All’ on TV in China. It was very popular. Insert A: Are you going to watch ‘Big Brother’ tonight? B: No, I hate reality TV programmes! They’re boring. Helen: Why is reality TV popular in the UK? Neil: Reality TV shows real people in real situations, so people like it I suppose. Helen: Do you? Neil: Not so much. I prefer a good film to reality TV. It gets boring after a while. Helen: Do you think so? Neil: Yes, and now there are so many reality TV shows it’s not interesting anymore. Helen: I agree they are quite boring nowadays. Neil: Yes, I have enough reality every day. I don’t want to watch it on TV when I get home! And that’s all we have time for today. Neil:	Yes, that’s all. You’ve been listening to Real English from BBC Learning English. Join us again soon for more up-to-the-minute Real English. Bye. |
