 Meet Me in Hawaii

A soldiers plea to his true love:

 Meet me in Hawii
when this war is said and done.
 When we can be together
 and Liberty has won.
 To run upon the beaches,
the breezes wafting through your hair,
Our footprints left upon the sand
to mark that we were there.

 The tide comes in;
 The tide recedes.
 The war continues
 with men's evil deeds.
 So meet me in Hawaii,
when peace settles on the land.
Together we will walk the beaches,
side by side, hand in hand.

Till I meet you in Hawaii,
I'll dream that you are there.
 I'll see your secret smile,
with a hibiscus in your hair.
 The freezing cold and hunger,
 the daily dread and fear,
Will not begin to touch my heart
when thoughts of you are near.

 True love's response:

 I'll meet you in Hawaii
when this war is said and done.
When my heart resumes its beating,
and I can think of fun.
To gaze upon the sandy beaches
 the color of your hair.
To watch our footprints wash away
and know that we were there.

 I'll await you in Hawaii
 with hibiscus in my hair,
To hear your voice and see your face,
and know how much you care.
 To wander through the jungle,
 our secret cove reserve,
For freedoms day, our love preserve,
Though hell should bar the way.

 Time's resolve many years later:

We meet each year in Hawaii
 to walk upon the beach.
To remind our hearts and souls
 of time's relentless reach.
 To ne'r forget the pain
 of years spent far apart.
 When we really share the
beating of one solitary heart. (来源:www.EnglishCN.com)

We walk the beach in Hawaii,
though our hair has turned to gray.
The memories of each year's footprints
 will never wash away.
Young lovers pass and shake their heads
to see us hand in hand.
They have no idea what price was paid,
to keep freedom in their land.
